Senior React Native Developer
Pieoneers is seeking a dynamic Senior React Native developer to join our mobile app development team in Vancouver, BC with opportunities to work remotely. You'll build cross-platform iOS and Android apps, increasingly with AI-powered features at their core.
Role + Responsibilities:
- Full-cycle development of cross-platform mobile apps for iOS and Android
- Writing code for new features, from UI to native module integration
- Integrating AI-powered features into mobile products (LLM-based assistants, voice, image recognition, on-device ML)
- Creating automated test suites and ensuring quality in your code
- Optimizing app performance, startup time and bundle size
- Managing releases to the App Store and Google Play, including CI/CD and OTA updates
- Actively identifying problems and solutions
- Collaborating with a cross-functional team of designers, back-end and AI engineers
- Comfortable working with a flat hierarchy
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of mobile development experience, including 3+ years with React Native
- Strong TypeScript/JavaScript and modern React skills
- Solid understanding of React Native internals, including the New Architecture (Fabric, TurboModules) and Expo
- Experience with state management and data fetching (Redux Toolkit, Zustand, TanStack Query)
- Ability to work with native code (Swift/Kotlin) to build or debug native modules
- Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs, offline-first data, push notifications and deep linking
- Experience with testing tools such as Jest, React Native Testing Library, Detox or Maestro
- Track record of publishing and maintaining apps on the App Store and Google Play
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Passion for building great mobile app experiences
- Commitment to professional development and higher learning
Bonus Points:
- Experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) or on-device ML (Core ML, TensorFlow Lite)
- Native iOS or Android development experience
- Node.js, Python or Ruby back-end experience
- Firebase and Google Cloud experience
- Experience in Test-Driven Development and pair programming
- Design skills (Figma)
